Gördes, which has been on an important settlement since the first ages, is written in the book "Little Asia" written by Charles Lesyon in 1842, and it is written that the Ionians were founded by the son of Kadüz, the king of Athens.
In the early ages, Gördes was called "Gördes", which was used as a name in many settlements of Anatolia. Today's Gördes is a city in Lydia, and in later times it was named "Julia Gordes".
